My Boston Terrier Links

BTs not for everyone.
Bostons require dedication, a lot of time with their owners and positive attention. They are and have been bred to be companions and they enjoy their playtime. They will become stressed without human contact. They are not tough "outside" dogs because the short coat is not protection to the cold and the black coat and short muzzle causes over heating easily.

Boston Terriers are high energy, very active dogs that live to play. They may not require long walks but they crave toy play with people. Puppies will play nip so puppy training for your family & BT is needed to get everyone working together with the same rules. Also socialization to other dogs which will make your pup a better more tolerant dog. Boston Terriers in need of basic training are given up to shelters because no one bothered to do proper training or the crate a dog with intense companionship needs which creates another set of problems.

Boston Terriers are also prone to some health problems, some of which require treatment including Expensive Veterinary attention, medication and special foods. Healthy Boston Terriers are a joy to own. They are very unique energetic dogs that can do special things. They are smart, sensitive and quick to learn. Areas they excel are Obedience, Agility, Flyball heck any ball, Therapy work and even Weight pulling! They are powerful for little dogs lots of muscles to pull with on a walk. They are breed to be companion dogs and people loving buddies. They are easy to bath & they are very clean they sport a wash n wear coat. BTs shed very little with a proper regular lite grooming.

Adopting a Boston is a long term commitment for the life of the dog. Boston puppies very popular and because they are so "cute" looking. We see them on popular TV commercials, the emotional impulse to get a BT before getting the needed facts for successful dog ownership is a bad road to take. A Boston can live to be on average 13 years old.

Many Boston Terriers being bred by back yard breeders and puppy mills in Pennsylvania and elsewhere without regard to the dogs genetics, health or temperament and often these sad dogs ending up unwanted in dog shelters or worse. Support reputable breeders, it will take time but it will save you heartache in the future. Good breeders will have health clearances on their dogs, dog parents you can meet, and they are willing to guarantee  puppies health and welfare for the rest of the dog's life. Check out the links below and ask questions.

A good breeder will ask you many questions. They will never sell to you the first time they meet you. Beware of breeders who have many dog breeds for sale on premises it could be a puppy mill or supplied by one. Puppy mills often feed the puppies antibiotics to keep them looking healthy till they come home with you. After a few day they can quickly become sick, then costly vet bills are incurred and many of them die.

Don't forget to look at breed rescue group for BTs. Often great dogs are left homeless for many reasons that have nothing to do with the dog itself.

I do lots of surfing to find bits and pieces of information about other cool Bostons. ( I sure wish someone would design a mouse that fits my paw... Ergonomics, Bahh!) Send me some email if you want your site added to my collection.
